Wordle, acquired by The New York Times (NYT) in January 2022, is a simple daily word-guessing game that quickly became a global cultural phenomenon. In five-letter increments, players guess a hidden word with feedback after each attempt: letters turn green for correct-place, yellow for correct-letter wrong-place, and gray for not-in-word. Despite—or because of—its minimalism, Nyt Wordle invites reflection on game design, social sharing, accessibility, commercial pressures, and how small digital experiences become communal rituals.
